Setting up drum sets isn’t exactly easy or intuitive, and the Roland HD-1 V-Drums Lite Electronic Drum Set remedies that. The pedals, pads, cymbals, and wiring cables have all been designed to be pre-positioned on one stand, and the package comes with detailed set-up instructions (and even a screwdriver), so there is no confusion as to which part goes where, even if you are a complete beginner drummer.
Admittedly, that does mean it is not extensible and not as flexibly adjustable, compared to other expensive professional e-drums. You cannot, for example, add any additional components to the HD-1.
As for the sound samples, well, this drum set is from Roland. You can expect great quality, realistic sounding cymbals in this model, as with any other Roland drum set.
The adjustable volumes, or the ability to listen through headphones, will allow you to play to your heart’s content without worry of disturbing the neighborhood. Unfortunately, the volume is global and affects all drums; you cannot adjust the volumes of individual drums.
